Venice Garner's Death

About six months ago Mr and Mrs DN Garner moved from Purley to Saltillo at which time their 18-year-old daughter Miss Venice Garner was an invalid.  That fearful monster tuberculosis had laid its grim clutches on her sweet young life and despite the fact that she was continuously confined to her bed, she was always cheerful, patient, and good.

The lessons of patience and christian fortitude as exemplified in her daily life will ever live in the minds and hearts of her many friends and prove a blessing to all who knew her.  She was thoroughly consecrated and had been a member of the Methodist church at Pleasant Hill about 10 years.  Her pastor Rev Oakes of Saltillo was by her side together with her loved ones when death came Tuesday, May 22, 1919, and it seemed that Christ gave her the much needed strength to talk at this last moment.  Realizing that she would soon leave her loved ones, she asked them not to grieve for her, saying that she would be at home with Jesus.  Her very last words were "Bless the Lord, oh my soul, and forget not all his benefits: bless His holy name."

Mr and Mrs Garner and the entire family and relatives have the deepest and tenderest sympathy of their host of friends.  Heaven is nearer now than ever before and we pray God in His great mercy to comfort these good people, and pray that we may all who knew Miss Venice, follow her example and be true to God, so when the final call comes we, too, amy leave our loved ones and friends so comforted through our great faith in our Savior that they will struggle bravely on to some day meet us in the home prepared for the faithful.

Card of Thanks

We take this means to thank our many friends for the kindly interest shown us in our bereavement.  The kind words of sympathy, letters of condolence and generous help were certainly appreciated.  We want to thank the doctors, and in a special way Dr Fuquay for his close attention and efforts to relieve.  May God reward you as He surely will, for He promised that even a cup of cold water given to one of his little ones should have a reward.
