Rena Melvina King

Rena (pronounced Reener) was born to Jim and Lou King 18 Jan 1874 in Franklin County TX.  She and Thomas Vinson McGill, a carpenter, were married 24 Dec 1896 in Franklin County.  One child:

Rena died 21 Oct 1901, when her daughter Inez was only three years old.  She is buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, where her gravestone erroneously gives her date of birth as 1878.  Vinson remarried, acquiring a stepdaughter, and later he fathered another daughter.  He died 7 Sep 1913 and is buried in Purley Cemetery in Franklin County.

+Exie Inez McGill was born to Rena and Vinson McGill 9 Feb 1898.  Rena died when Inez was three years old, and her grandmother Lou King cared for her until Vinson remarried.  With his remarriage, Inez acquired a stepsister and later a half-sister.  The family lived near Crowell TX for a time, then moved to Dallas.  Vinson cared for Inez as best he could, but she grew up with very little loving care.  To make matters worse, Vinson died in Dallas when Inez was fifteen, and she went to work at a department store in downtown Dallas in order to support herself.  Before long her stepmother asked her to leave, so she went to Pleasant Hill and lived with her aunt Liz Stinson.  Inez married Charles Spurgeon Lindsey in Pickton TX on 31 Jan 1916.  Three children:

Inez graduated from college with a teaching certificate and became a gifted and dedicated teacher.  Despite her troubled childhood, she was a happy, warm, and loving person.  Inez died 16 Oct 1980.  Spurgeon died 25 Sep 1986.  They are buried in Lee Cemetery in Winnsboro TX.

++Kloys Nadine Lindsey was born to Inez and Spurgeon Lindsey on 5 Sep 1917 in Cypress community in Franklin County TX.  She married Paul Milton Holley at her parents' home in Cartwright TX on 28 Nov 1936.  Two children:

Paul died of cancer in September of 1988.

+++Nancy Karen Holley was born to Nadine and Paul Holley in Tyler TX on 25 Aug 1946.  She and Kenneth Cockrell were married 5 Mar 1977 in Garland TX.  One child:

+++Kathy Lynn Holley was born to Nadine and Paul Holley on 28 Jun 1951 in Tyler TX.  She and Jerry Wayne Barnett were married 29 Dec 1972 in Quitman TX.  Three children:

++Charles Vinson Lindsey was born to Inez and Spurgeon Lindsey on 12 Feb 1921.  He joined the Naval Air Force and was sent as an ensign to Pearl Harbor in the fall of 1941.  He survived the December 7 attack but died on a mission 11 Jan 1942.  He was buried in National Cemetery in Honolulu.  After the war his body was brought home to Lee Cemetery in Winnsboro TX.

++Mary Katheryn Lindsey was born to Inez and Spurgeon Lindsey on 7 Jul 1928 in Wood County TX.  She and John Wheeler Lee Jr were married 12 Jun 1948 in Southland TX.  Four children:

+++John Wheeler Lee III was born to Mary Katheryn and John Lee on 27 Jul 1949 in Slaton TX.  He married Linda Alaine Becker in Pecos TX on 31 Dec 1971.  No children.

+++Cynthia Ann Lee was born to Mary Katheryn and John Lee on 30 Oct 1953 in Gilmer TX.  One child:

+++Linda Jean Lee was born to Mary Katheryn and John Lee in Gilmer TX on 26 Nov 1954.  She married Tim Vos were married.  Three children:
