Mack Clifton King

Mack was born to Jim and Lou King on 4 Jan 1887 in Franklin County TX.  In Mount Vernon TX on 3 Dec 1905 he married Mary Velma Chaffin, a daughter of John J and Lily Frances Phillips Chaffin.  Velma was born in Arkansas 24 Mar 1888.   Five children:

To give his children an opportunity to go to college, Mack moved his family to Commerce TX in 1928.  He opened a little corner grocery store across from the East Texas State Teachers College campus and continued in business there until only a month before his death.

On 20 Jun 1955, the day after Father's Day, Mack was found dead in his back yard.  Although he had no history of heart trouble, he had died of a heart attack while working in his flower garden.  The circumstances of his death were almost identical to those of his father's.  Velma died 19 Jul 1969 at Winnsboro.  She and Mack are buried in the southeast corner of Pleasant Hill Cemetery beside their stillborn son.

+Homer Clifton King was born to Mack and Velma King 24 Mar 1907 at Pleasant Hill in Franklin County TX.  He and Vera Bolton were married 25 May 1927 in Dallas TX.  One child:

Clifton died of a heart attack at Windom TX on 25 Mar 1987, while working in his garden. The circumstances of his death were almost identical to those of his father and grandfather.  Vera died in a Denton nursing home on 24 Nov 1992.  She and Clifton are buried in Oakwood Cemetery at Honey Grove TX.

++Marlene Dorreice King was born to Clifton and Vera King on 3 Aug 1933 in Paris TX.  She and Daniel Leander were married in Dallas in 1953.  Two children:

Dorreice died of cancer on 8 Sept 1994.  Dan died 2 Feb 1998.  They are buried near Clifton and Vera in Oakwood Cemetery in Honey Grove TX.

+Romie Hazel King was born 27 Sep 1909 in Franklin County TX to Mack and Velma King.  She married Roy Hill.  Two children:

Romie and Roy divorced.  Romie and Thomas E Reneau were married 14 Oct 1949.   Roy died in California in 1966.  Tommie died 13 Nov 1985.  Romie died in Nederland TX on 19 Apr 1999.  On 21 Apr her funeral was held in Sulphur Springs TX, and she was buried at Pleasant Hill

++Elva Sue Hill was born to Romie and Roy Hill 10 Feb 1938 in Paris TX.  She and Jack Blizzard were married in Dallas TX on 20 Dec 1957.  Three children:

Sue and Jack divorced.  Sue married Gerald Mann on 8 Jun 1988.  Gerald died 19 Jul 1992 at home in Nederland TX.  He is buried at Pleasant Hill.  Sue married Alton E Green on 9 Mar 1996.

+++Keith H Blizzard was born to Sue and Jack Blizzard in Commerce TX on 17 Aug 1959. He and Brenda were married 10 Sep 1983.  They divorced, and Keith married Karen Lea Pollock on 5 May 1990 in Missouri City TX.  Two children:

++Roy Mack Hill, nicknamed Pudge, was born to Romie and Roy Hill on 24 May 1942, in Wellington TX.  He and Susan Riggs were married in January of 1972.  Three children:

Viola died 19 Jun 1987 as the result of an attack by a mugger in a grocery-store parking lot in Greenville TX.  Armon died 31 May 1999, and on 3 Jun he was buried beside Viola in Greenville.

++Mary Alyce King was born to Armon and Viola King on 2 Aug 1939.  She and Clifford L Pate were married 2 Apr 1959.  One child:
