William King

According to the King family Bible records, William King, the oldest child of John and Elizabeth King, was born 11 Nov 1822, married Eliza Elizabeth Brock on 24 Jul 1840, and was baptized September 20, 1868.  The date of his death is not given.  Jo Ann Adams's records show his birth date as 11 Oct 1822 and Elizabeth's as 24 Nov 1828.  This birth date for Elizabeth conflicts with the 1850 census record, which shows William and Elizabeth the same age; and with the 1860 census record, which shows Elizabeth two years younger than William.

In the 1850 census records for Murphy Township, Cherokee County NC, William and Elizabeth King are living on a farm near the farm where William's parents, John and Elizabeth King, live.  Both William and Elizabeth are 28 years old.  He is a farmer born in NC; she is a housewife born in TN.  Their children, all four born in NC, are:
George H, age 7 (born 1843)
John F, age 5 (born 1845)
Sarah L, age 2 (born 1848)
Martha J, age 1 month (born 1850)

The 1860 census record, page 384, Murphy District, Cherokee County NC describes the household as follows:
William King, age 37, farmer with $1200 in real estate and $500 personal property, born in Buncombe Co NC
Elizabeth Brock King, age 35, wife, born in McMonor Co TN
George H King, age 17, male at home

All the children are reported as born in Cherokee Co NC.

Jane Eliza King

Jane Eliza King was born to John and Elizabeth King 22 Jan 1825.  She married Amos Patterson 2 Oct 1844.  She died 15 Jan 1899.  This is from the King family Bible records.  Click here to see a picture of Jane in her later years with some of her family.

According to Keith Townson, Amos Patterson was born in 1824 to Joseph B and Mary Duncan Patterson.  He would have been a half-brother, then, to Jane Patterson and Elizabeth A Patterson, who married Jesse and Andrew King, respectively.  Mary Duncan Patterson, Amos's mother, died around 1829.  After Mary's death, Joseph married Nancy Agnes Wilson.   Joseph and Nancy were the parents of Jane and Elizabeth.

According to Ann Spencer's file, the marriage took place on 2 Jul 1853 in Union County GA.  The "Roster of Georgians in the CSA" says that Amos Patterson was a 5th Sergeant enrolled 31 Aug 1861.  He died in Charleston SC on 22 Dec 1863.

Daniel Christenberry King

Daniel Christenberry (variously spelled, sometimes beginning with Qu) King was born 30 Nov 1832.  He was baptized 20 Apr 1851 and married Mary Smith in October of 1855.  Daniel and Mary had a daughter, Nancy Jane "Nannie" King, who grew up to marry Charles Birge and raise a large family at Boonville MO.

Daniel died 8 Oct 1863, and Mary later married George Flippo.  Mary and George Flippo raised several children in east Texas, among them Ben Flippo, who became blind at the age of eight.  In adulthood Ben, despite his blindness, was an outstanding cattle buyer, domino player, and car mechanic.  Another of Mary and George Flippo's children was Mattie Jane Flippo, who eventually married Jim and Lou King's son John Hamon King.

Lucinda A King

Lucinda A King was born to John and Elizabeth King 9 Jul 1836.  She was baptized 25 May 1851, and married Lafayette Conley 15 Mar 1853.  The Bible records do not show the date of Lucinda's death.

The Union County GA 1860 census, record 457,  has Lucinda listed as Nancy L.  (Perhaps her name was Nancy Lucinda rather than Lucinda A.)  The record shows Lafayett age 29, born in NC; Nancy L age 24, born in NC.  Two daughters are also listed:
Cynthia A age 5 born in GA
Lille age 3 born in GA
According to the Pieronis, Lafayett and Nancy Lucinda also had a son William J Conley, probably born later than 1860.  In a Red River County History book, four other children are named:  Elijah A, Naomi Jean, Susan E, and Rufinia.
Lillie, born 4 Jul 1857, married Clabe Stiles.  (Clabe's parents were Jesse and Mary Elizabeth Patterson Stiles.  Mary Elizabeth was the daughter of Jane Eliza King and Amos Patterson.)  Lillie died 13 Apr 1899, and is buried in Red River County.
William Conley married Blanche Stiles, who was the daughter of Clabe's brother Berry and his wife Hattie Taylor.  William J and Blanche had four children:
Laura or Lura born 7 Apr 1907, married William Hollingsworth
Noel (female) born 23 Sep 1909, married Willie Gill
Norman born 19 Mar 1911, married Mary Ruth Chance
Naomi born 3 Mar 1913, married Robert Adams

Hannah Elizabeth King

Hannah Elizabeth King was born to John and Elizabeth King 28 Mar 1838.  Her baptism is listed in the family Bible records, but no date is given.  She married John R Stiles 5 May 1859.  The 1880 Franklin County TX census shows John R Stiles with wife Elizabeth and their three sons:
Andrew Martin Stiles age 16
Johnnie Franklin Stiles age 14
Alford Closier Stiles age 6
The date of Hannah Elizabeth's death is not given in the family Bible.  According to Karen Pieroni, Johnnie Franklin Stiles is supposedly buried in Cooper TX.

Andrew U King

Andrew U King was born to John and Elizabeth King 22 Mar 1842.  He and Elizabeth A Patterson were married 26 Oct 1865.  Keith Townson shows Elizabeth born in 1832 in Union County GA to Joseph B and Nancy Agnes Wilson Patterson.

According to the "Roster of Georgians in the CAS," Andy served as a private in Company B, 23rd GA.  The last roll showing him present was 30 Apr 1864.

Bob Brakebill's notes state that Andrew raised four sons in Maud TX.  One of the sons, Jesse, lived in San Angelo; another, named Dow, lived in the Texas panhandle.  "Uncle Andy" is said to have visited Lou King on at least one occasion while she was living with Jack and Bessie King.

Sintha Margrete King

Sintha Margrete King was born to John and Elizabeth King 5 Sep 1844 and was baptized 18 Oct 1858.  She was married 17 Jan 1867 to Daniel W Stamey.  In the 1860 census for Union County GA, Daniel Stamey is listed at household 506 (adjacent to household 504, the family of Jesse Parmer King) with a son Daniel, age 16.  Probably these two Daniels are Sintha Margrete's future father-in-law and husband.

Sintha and Daniel had at least one daughter, Nancy Stamey.  It is recorded in the family Bible that Sintha died 5 Mar 1875.  Daniel subsequently moved to Grayson County TX and married Rhoda McMahon.  Together they had one daughter, Minnie Stamey, whose married name became McQuistion.  Nancy died in 1913 and Daniel in 1925.  Both are buried in Tecumseh City Cemetery in Tecumseh OK.
