Eight Oklahoma servicemen died during the first year of the war in Iraq, along with one soldier with close ties to the state and a civilian University of Tulsa Law School graduate.
President Bush announced the start of the war one year ago Friday.
Following is a chronology on the deaths of the Oklahomans in the war.

JULY 26: Spc. Jonathan P. Barnes, 21, who was born in Muskogee and attended grade school in Coweta, was killed while guarding a children's hospital 45 miles northeast of Baghdad.
He and two comrades were killed by a grenade thrown from an Iraqi civilian hospital window, according to news reports.
Barnes was laid to rest in Anderson, Mo., where he resided after leaving Coweta. He has several relatives living in Oklahoma.
