ENID (AP) -- Family and friends will gather in Arkansas on Monday to remember an airman who was killed during an attack in Iraq.
A funeral will be in Nashville, Ark., for Air Force Staff Sgt. Dustin W. Peters, 27, a member of the 314th Logistics Readiness Squadron at Little Rock Air Force Base.
Peters was killed July 11 when his convoy was hit by homemade bombs north of Baghdad, base officials said.
Peters' grandmother, Shirley Lehman, lives in Enid (Oklahoma), as does his father, Dennis.
On Thursday, Peters' son was presented his father's Bronze Star medal with Valor and Purple Heart medal by Lt. Gen. John D. Hopper, Air Force Air Education and Training Command vice commander.
The Bronze Star medal with Valor is given to individuals who distinguish themselves by heroism, outstanding achievement or meritorious service while serving in combat.
