WILLIAM CALVIN "BILL" EVANS

From "The Sapulpa Daily Herald," Sunday, November 27, 2005

William "Bill" Calvin Evans, 84, of Kiefer, went home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005.

Bill was born Jan. 4, 1921 to Sol E. Evans and Rosalie Moore Evans. He married Catherine Helton of Sapulpa on Aug. 12, 1942 in Beggs.

Bill was a cross country truck driver, owner and operator for 45 years, hauling oversized oil field equipment across 48 states, Canada and Mexico. He retired from driving rigs in 1995 and started an escort service for the same type of oversized loads. He retired completely in 2000. He never retired from his vegetable garden that he made every year blessing family, neighbors and friends with fresh vegetables.

Bill accepted Jesus early in life and was a member of Victory Christian Center in Tulsa. He loved the VCC Men's Breakfast and missed attending after he became ill.

He was a friend to all, never met a stranger. He was a giver and always gave sacrificially to people in need. When he was on the road, in church, or anywhere, if he found a person in need, he would give them his $100 bill he kept back for emergencies. He always felt your need was his emergency. He will be missed for a long time until we are all reunited in heaven. We love you Daddy, Honey, Brother, Friend.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Sol and Rosalie Evans, and brother Ralph Evans.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine; three daughters, Judy and husband Floyd Gordon, Linda and husband J.C. Way, of Sapulpa, and Rita and husband Ed Lee, of Beggs; sisters Dorothy Adams, of Kiefer, Virginia Graham, of Sapulpa; brothers Ed Evans and wife Carolyn, of Tahlequah, Jerry Evans, of Kiefer, and Jimmy Evans and wife Charlotte, of Sapulpa.
