A long and useful life came to an end on Tuesday
evening, April 28, 1925 at 7pm when Mrs. Nancy Erwin breathed her last.
Mrs Ervin had been in bad health for several years and he rcondition has
been considered dangerous by the family for the past week, she having been
unconcious since Monday mornind. Mrs Ervin was 75 years five months
and 11 days old. She was born near Shafter and spent the early part
of her life in that vincinity, coming to Greenfield some 35 years ago.
Her husband, W. N. Ervin preceded her to the grave some 33 years.
Mrs Ervin was the mother of four children, three boys and one girl, J.B.
Ervin, Arthur Ervin, and a small boy who have passed on, Mrs. Lon T. Gorman
being the only surviving child. She has one brother, W. A. W. Price
of Bald Knob Arkansas, who arrived a few hours before her death, three
grandchildren, Mrs. M. A. Abney, Clay and Kate Ervin of Greenfield.
She was a good woman - she had made her home for the past 12 years with
her oldest son, the late Robert Ervin and her every want administered to
by relatives in her declining years. She professed faith in Christ
at an early age and united with the Missionary Baptist Church. She
lived a devoted christain life, and was active member of the church as
long as she was able to attend. The furneral services were conducted
at the Baptist Church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30pm by Elder W. F. Carlton,
assisteed by the pastors of the town with the interment at Hornbeak Cemetery.
The following acted as pallbearers - W. R. Coats, Joe Coats, Tom Coats,
A.C. Coats, Oscar Coats, and Herman Coats.
