WILLIAM HUDSON was born in Dinwiddie County, Virginia, January 12,
1786, a son of IRBY HUDSON (RS) and wife PHOEBE. His parents moved to Georgia
in 1798 and settled in Hancock County where he was married August 28, 1806
to FRANCES LONG, daughter of EVANS LONG and wife LUCY APPERSON. She was
born in Culpeper County, VA, October 19, 1789. By this marriage twelve
children where born.
Obituary 15 JAN 1834 "The Southern Recorder", Milledgeville, GA "he
was 54 years old at his death, and had lived in Hancock County for the
past 36 years; that he was survived by his wife and ten children; and that
he was noted for his hospitality and integrity, having the qualities of

hospital at Richmond, Paroled 4/28/65. 1850 Census list Thomas H. Hudson
age 17, a student, living Coweta Co in the household of Thomas Sevenson.
1870 Census list Thomas H. Hudson age 36 living Coweta Co. Pension record
Widow Mrs. Lenna C. Hudson applied 1901 Carroll Co. She was born 1833
Putnam Co GA, her maiden name was Roberds. They married 1853 in Coweta
Co. Thomas died 10/5/87 Carroll Co. She was being supported in 1901 by
her children. Thomas and Lenna's Son, John R. Hudson stated that Lenna
died 2/08. Witness' Alvan Freeman and John E. Robinson stated that Thomas
was wounded at Fort Stedman around Petersburg, and was in the Hospital
the time of the surrender.

This company was made up of men from Coweta County and the surrounding
area. It was known as the "Newnan Artillery" and was designated as
Company A at the reorganization of December 1862.
