John Kincaid, [000004] carpenter, (1745-1836) died in Jefferson Township, Allegheny County, PA, after Feb. 24, 1834, but before June 20, 1836, is the brother of Samuel Kinkead of Fawn Township, York County, PA who died in 1779, later is found on Chartiers Creek and Petters Creek, Westmoreland, later, Washington County, PA, then Mifflin Township, Allegheny County. Jefferson Township was split off from Mifflin Township, also had land adjacent in Baldwin Township.

No list of offspring for this John Kinkead has thus far been discovered, no Bible record, no will, no intestate file, no list of heirs, no inventory of estate file, no appraisal of estate, no letters of administration, so far nothing. His wife’s name was Ann James, perhaps an heir to Lewis James, but there is no clue as to the names of any of his children. Found on the Chester County tax list from 1753-1759. It is unknown if the property of Rev. John Kinkead in Northumberland County, PA in 1774 is the same Rev. John Kinkead.

(1742-1832), who married Mary Bowman, in Washington County, PA in 1784, later
of Hardin County, KY, was probably born in Ireland, his youngest daughter, Sarah,
living with her son, Charles B. Fletcher, Richland County, IL, in 1880, stated
in the 1880 Census, that both of her parents were born in Ireland. Robert
Kincaid also stated that he was a resident citizen of the United States in his
Revolutionary War pension application, which meant that he was not born in the
American Colonies.

John Donnell witnessed the deed of sale Andrew Kinkead, carpenter, of Philadelphia, to John Proctor, 1785. Andrew Kinkead assigned his Donation Land to John Donnell, 1785.

The author accepts the information in John Kinkead Jr.’s Revolutionary War pension application as valid and that he is the son of John Kinkead, merchant of Carlisle. The divergence of the DNA samples of Thomas Kinkead who married Hannah Clingon and John Kinkead Jr. indicate a possible nonpaternity event or an error in the paper trail for Thomas Kinkead who married Hannah Clingon. The author accepts sample 93625 as the true representative of the line of John Kinkead, merchant of Carlisle. Thomas Kinkead, son of John Kinkead, merchant of Carlisle carries sample number 93625 until he disappears from Cumberland County, PA. Thomas Kinkead who married Hannah Clingon carries sample 9736 from the birth of their first child. This will continue to be reflected in the timeline until more evidence becomes extant to clarify these lineages.
