Samuel Kinkead appeared in Butler County, Pennsylvania in 1800. He was very active in county affairs, being a Justice of the Peace. The other Kinkead in Butler County at that time was John Kincaid, formerly private, 1st Pennsylvania Regiment Continental Line. The parents of Samuel Kinkead are unknown. He follows the pattern of Kinkeads who received warrants and patents in western Pennsylvania. He could be connected to the York County, Pennsylvania Kinkeads or Carlisle, Cumberland County area Kincaids. The author of this compiled record is of the opinion that Samuel Kinkead of Butler County is connected to Michael Kincaid Hamilton Bann Township, York County, Pennsylvania or Samuel Kinkead of Fawn Township, York County, PA (1736-1810). Samuel Kinkead did not have a large family but his progeny can be traced into the 20th Century. A living descendant of this line has been found but is not of the male line for DNA testing purposes. The author of this compilation speculates that Samuel Kinkead of Butler County, PA will fall into Kincaid DNA Sample Group A.

The early records in this timeline represent a direction for research and it is not certain whether these documents represent the activity of Samuel Kinkead of Butler County, PA.

A Kincaid Orphan Lineage is a lineage for which there is no known living descendant. There is considerable information on these lineages or individuals. By creating this file it is hoped that someone will recognize an individual in one of these lineages that may lead to a living descendant.  From there perhaps a DNA sample could be submitted.
