John Kinkead of Branford, New Haven, CT, first appeared in the New Haven records upon his marriage to Elizabeth Hoadley in 1725.  He raised a large family and eventually moved to Farmington, Hartford, CT by 1751. His oldest son was named Crownidge Kinkead. This name was carried down through several generations making this family easier to trace. This John Kinkead appears to have had no other Kinkead relations within Connecticut. And it is a mystery where he came from. His progeny migrated to New York, where they were found in Steuben County. This is a rather large family which may provide the possibility of finding a living descendant. The material collected on this line was collected in 1997 and has only been added to sporadically since then. The author of this compilation cannot speculate where this John Kinkead might fall within the Kincaid DNA project, since he appears to be isolated in Connecticut.

A Kincaid Orphan Lineage is a lineage for which there is no known living descendant. There is considerable information on these lineages or individuals. By creating this file it is hoped that someone will recognize an individual in one of these lineages that may lead to a living descendant.  From there perhaps a DNA sample could be submitted.

Third, to my daughter Caty Dockstater, Mary Ann Willis, and Susan Van Wie, fifty dollars each, to be paid within one year after my decease. Fourth, to my son, Crownadge, ten dollars payable within one year after my decease, which together with what I have heretofore given and advanced to him will make his portion equal with those of my other sons.

Lastly, I ordain and appoint my son John as executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this second day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty.
