  • Helpful websites.
    • Celtic Bear Lair: Website of Wilbur and Zimmerman descendant , Kurt Laidlaw
    • Belcher Family Genealogy Research: Maintained by Gayl Wells and Greg Belcher. They have great information, mostly on the "southern" Belchers so far. Though I haven't been able to connect my Belchers with those on this site, I visit often because they are constantly adding info. They also put out the monthly "Belcher Blues" - an electronic newsletter with with stories, queries, links, etc.
    • Strehm-Stream Family Research: RootsWeb WorldConnect site of Wendell Stream. Contains information on Jay family who married into the Belcher line.
    • Family of Kerr, Karr & Carr: Mary Ann Carr married William Belcher, son of John I.
    • Diamond State Data Services: They have a lot of information on families from northeastern Pennsylvania, especially Susquehanna and Wayne Counties. More data is added to this site regularly.
    • Stevens Point [WI] Area Obituary Index: My Wilbers and some of their Belcher kin moved from Pennsylvania to Wisconsin. Many of the obituaries on this site come from this source.
    • Susquehanna County [PA] Genealogy Project
    • Susquehanna County [PA] Cemeteries
    • USGS GNIS: I'm a firm believer in including a complete reference for a geographic location whenever possible. This site can provide counties for towns and other useful information. One feature I use occasionally is locating the latitude and longitude of places. I can then find the distances between geographic locations with the website below, useful in understanding migration patterns, etc. Remember, however, that towns change names and counties change boundaries. The information on this site is modern, but it may help pin down older geographic divisions.
    • How Far Is It? Don't be fooled by the location of this site (Bali and Indonesia On the Web)! With latitude and longitude (see previous site) you can find distances between cities and towns where your ancestors may have been born, lived, married or died. I've found it extremely useful!
