Nicholas Gostwick was the son of Joseph and Mary (Corbin) Gostwick of Baltimore Co. Md.. Nicholas died Oct. 13,1740 Baltimore Co.Md., and his widow Abarilla/Ebarilla Gostwick married 2nd. on July 28,1744 Benjamin Curtis.

Of the children listed in Baltimore Co. Md. records as children of Nicholas and Abarilla (Yanston) Gostwick, only the son Joseph W. Gostwick has been found as: GOSSETT AND GOSWICK in Franklin Co. North Carolina.  Since Joseph W. Goswick has been found as Gossett, and some of his descendants also found as Gossett, it is the opinion of this writer that the son Nicholas and George Goswick's descendants may also carry the surname of Gossett, or may go by the surname of Curtis since they were quite young when the mother re-married. {kgk}   (Go to Inventory of Estate of Nicholas Gostwick)
