First Generation - John Le Drapour

1. John LE DRAPOUR was born in the Netherlands.

John LE DRAPOUR and his wife had the following child:

child+2 i. John Rawlyn DRAPUR.

Second Generation - John Rawlyn Drapur

2. John Rawlyn DRAPUR was born in 1429 in Yorkshire England. 1429. He was a clothier. Records indicate: "John Rawlyn Drapur quitclaimed to Thomas Drapur, grandson, his inheritance in Brodehotham Burless in Wadesworth, England 1495."(The above would show that the Drapers were landholders in Yorkshire as early as 1400, as it speaks of an inheritance)."

Third Generation - John Drapur

3. John DRAPUR was born in 1469 in Yorkshire England. "Cloth weaving business in Yorkshire, with his son Thomas Draper, 1530"

Fourth Generation - Thomas Draper

4. Thomas DRAPER was born in 1495 in Yorkshire England. Thomas was the "first barer of the name" as it is currently spelled by his descendants. The name Draper, or DRAPUR, or Drapour had its origin as it was applied to people who were makers of cloth; thus the naming of people after the trade or vocation they followed was a part of the early European tradition. Named Edward Stansfield as a tenant of certain property (June 28, 1572)(English court records)

child6 ii. Henry DRAPER was born in 1540 in Yorkshire England. Henry purchased a parcel of land "within the course of the water of Calder and a certain attachment of a mill pool for a fulling mill; Aug 21, 1515" (Court Roll). (This is the earliest actual evidence that the Drapers engaged in the clothier business.)

fuller: one that fulls cloth.

Fifth Generation - John Draper

5. John DRAPER was born in 1534. "Son of Thomas Draper, Bishop of Neapolis. Suffragen of Winchester, 1568."
