To descendants of James Draper (born mid 1700s) of Floyd New York. The following message was sent to me by Dan Draper Jr in Feb 2000. It was shortly after he discovered that his ancestor James was not a descendant of Samuel "the Pirate" Draper but was a descendant of James "the Puritan" Draper. Sadly Dan passed away in 2004 before he could complete his research into this new development.

Ken,
If you have not noticed the messages on the Draper GenForum, I need to make you
aware of a SURPRISING AND SHOCKING development regarding the ancestry of my
gr-gr-gr-gr grandfather, James Draper.
On January 11, 2000, Barry Wood posted a follow-up on the Draper GenForum to a
message that I posted over a year ago - on January 03, 1999. That was one of the
first messages (if not the very first) that I posted after getting on the
Internet. Please read the following messages on the Draper GenForum:
No. 383
No. 959
No. 963
No. 964
No. 968
No. 969
No. 971
This development will probably be as shocking to you as it is to me. I am
closely reviewing all evidence and am awaiting receipt of 1790 Census
enumeration sheets from Granville, Washington County, NY, as well as additional
data from Connecticut. However, I must say that it is beginning to appear that
my James Draper is not the son of Captain Samuel Draper, but is a direct
descendant of James "The Puritan" Draper. Regardless of how this development
evolves, I want you to know that my interest in Captain Samuel Draper and his
descendants WILL NOT diminish. I also want you to know that I am willing to
share with you any and all information on this subject that I have received or
do receive.
I have always felt that you and I share a common goal - LEARNING THE TRUE FACTS
REGARDING OUR DRAPER ANCESTRY - regardless of what our research may divulge.
Dan Jr.
