Lewis Washburn of Henry Co, Kentucky

Lewis Washburn was born in 1835 at Franklinton, Henry Co, Kentucky. He was the son of Joseph Washburn and Susan Lindsay. He enlisted as a private on August 9, 1863 in the 2nd Calvary and was mustered into Company C on August 13, 1861 at Camp Muldrough for a term of 3 years. It was in this service he earned a distinguished service award. He was declared missing October 18, 1863. Taken prisoner September 19, 2003 during the Battle of Chickamauga, Lewis died in the Confederate Prison Hospital on May 3, 1864 at Danville, Va. and was buried in the National Cemetery At Danville.
