| Note | John Taffner Sr. - His wife Anna and son John Taffner Jr. There daughter, Anna, came over from Germany when John Jr. was 13 years old, his parents imigrated to St. Louis about the year 1864 and in 1865 came to Wrightsville, ILL and started farming. His wife Anna was a Peter (and born in Germany also). John Sr. his wife Anna and daughter all died with Phemonia with in two weeks of each other. Leaving John Jr. alone His father, mother, and sister are all buried at the Hickory Grove Cemetary south of White Hall Illinois, in Green country. They have a hugh stone and on it reads very boldly FROM GERMANY. John Jr. stayed on the farm after the passing of his parents and sister. 1870 Cenus shows his birth place as Bavaria, and his parents John Sr. and Anna as having come from Prussia. This states they all 4 came from Prussia. John Jr. married Margaret Lucida Cain in Green county ILL, 2 Mar 1878. He owns 50 acers of land Sec 11. P.O. Wrightsville ILL. Later he sold the 50 acers of land in ILL and bought acers in Irwin MO. John Jr. was a member of the Catholic church and a strong Democrat. They moved near 'Siss' Taffner's sister, Amanda Bartlett (Cain) at Irwin MO. John Jr. was born 1851 and died 1944 at the age of 93 years. |
