I saw your genealogy at Kindred Konnections and wanted to give you the following information related to Margaret Smith Christopher:

The parents of Margaret Smith were:

Stephen Smith
b. 13 March 1777
m before 1805
d. 5 October 1844, Maury County, Tennessee

Elizabeth Rebecca Snodgrass
b. c 1778
d. October 1853, Maury County, Tennessee

Margaret Smith was born in c1805 most likely in Kentucky (according to a NARA experts reading of the census entry). The family moved to the Mount Pleasant area of Maury County, on Hurricane Creek c1807. After Margaret married William Christopher the Christophers moved to Missouri. Following the death of Stephen Smith in 1844, Margaret was given a number of slaves from the estate and these slaves were taken to Missouri and given to the Christophers. Stephen Smith had a will and there is substantial documentation in the Maury County courthouse of the will's probate and the distribution of assets. I hope this information is of some help to you.

Note* Columbia, Maury, Tennessee, Stephen Smith was a wealthy man, when he died about 1854 leaving a will It was challenged by several members of the Smith Family. A trial was held 1854 - 1858 before being settled, at Columbia, Maury Co. Tennessee. His 19 Slaves - Valued $10,800 plus land and holdings in 1858 were divided by court giving Margaret 5 slaves valued at $2,700. Their names being Charles, Blyford, Gus, Seal and Fan. The slaves (paper was cut off)
