Devonport Caledonian Society member Mr Neil McInnes was recently recognised by the Australian Celtic Council for his loyal support.

Mr McInnes (83), has been a member of the society for more than 40 years and was a committee member when the society was established in Devonport in 1951.

In 1953, Mr McInnes (pictured) was elected the society's secretary - a position he held for 11 years.

After retiring as secretary he was granted life membership.

Mr McInnes has also been involved with the Caledonian Council since 1958.

On of the highlights of his association with the society is the annual Hyland games held at Ross.

Robert Neil (Neil) McInnes (1908- ) is the eldest son
of Ronald McInnes (1873-19??)
and Gertrude Ellen Rundle (1877-19??).
