RAYMOND TACKETT
Corporal Raymond Tackett, age 23 years, nine months and six days, was killed in action in Korea on October 12, 1951.
He was the son of Mrs. Maude Tackett and the late Rev. Jess Tackett.
His father preceded him in death two years and two months ago.
He is survived by his mother, five sisters, Mrs. Joe Johnson, city; Mrs. James Vonnie Reed, city, Mrs. Jim Gussler, Ashland, and Libby Ann and Shirley Maude, at home; two brothers, Jess Jr., and Thomas Eugene at home. Also surviving are his two grandmothers, Mrs. Mintie Litteral and Mrs. Nola Tackett of this cty and a host of frends and relatves.(Spelling copied as is.) Raymond was esteemed and loved by many friends.
He was inducted into the armed forces on October 20, 1950, and served with the 23rd Infantry Regiment.
He had been overseas for about six months when he was killed instantly while leading in combat on Heart Break ridge.
For His heroic valor in battle Cpl. Tackett received posthumously one of the highest awards to be bestowed by our Government, The Purple Heart, for services over and above the call of duty.
