Thelma Resident Dies Saturday
Services Held Tuesday For Mrs. Viola Sparks
Mrs. Viola Sparks, 74, died at her home at Thelma, Ky., Saturday night, June, 18, 1955, following illness of nine years.
The daughter of the late Andrew and Josephine Franklin Fannin. She was born October 12, 1880, in Lawrence County.
She had been a resident of Thelma for 42 years.
She was preceded in death March 12, 1949, by her husband, D. O. Sparks.
Surviving are one son , Willie Sparks, Ashland, three daughters, Mrs. Henry Collier, Ashland, Mrs. Earl Dawson, David, Ky., and Mrs. Essie Newsome, Thelma,, and one brother, William Fannin, Thelma.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 21, 1955, at the Old Friendship Church at Williamsport with F. F. Rigsby and Winfrey Meek as officiating ministers.
Burial was made in the family cemetery at Thelma under the direction of the Jones and Preston Funeral Home.
