Services Sunday For Resident Of Meally
J. M. Picklesimer Dies of Heart Attack
J. M. Picklesimer, 72, died suddenly at his home at Meally at 3:20 p.m., Friday, March 9, of a heart attack. He had suffered from a heart condition for the past five years, and the fatal seizure occurred in the yard at his home as he leaned over to pick up a bucket of coal.
The son of Dr. F. M. and Virginia Sublett Picklesimer, he was born in this city June 18, 1883. He had resided at Meally for the past twenty-eight years and was a member of the Church of Christ, which he joined eighteen years ago. Before his retirement he worked as a carpenter and in the mines. He was a member of U.M.W.A.
He was first married to the former Miss Tisha Sturgill, who preceded him in death July 1926. Two daughters, Mrs. Fred Borders, Cattletsburg, and Mrs. Wilbur Borders, Denver, Colo., survived.
Surviving besides his daughters are his widow, Mrs. Shug Hall Picklesimer, two brothers, Kendrick Picklesimer, Indiana; H. D. Picklesimer, Volga; one half brother, R. R Picklesimer, Los Angeles, Calif. And one grandson.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Meally Church of Christ with J. H. Short officiating.
Burial was in the Pelphrey Cemetery at Volga under the directions of the Preston Funeral Home.
