T. L. Meek, 73, Dies Wednesday Rites Held Saturday For Bridgeford Man
T. L. "Tom" Meek, 73, died at 1 p.m. Wednesday at his home in Bridgeford following an illness of five months.
Born June 22, 1883, at Boons Camp, he was the son of Nathaniel and Columbia Webb Meek. He had been a resident of this city for 50 years and was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
He was blind since he was sixteen years of age, but he was able to go anywhere about the city with only the aid of a cane. Despite his handicap, he was a shrewd businessman, and was active almost until his death.
He had been an ordained minister of the Primitive Baptist Church for almost fifty years.
Surviving are three brothers, Winfrey Meek of West Van Lear, Jessie Meek of Boons Camp and Albert Meek of Boones Camp.
Also surviving are two neices, Mrs. John B. Brown, and Mrs. Victor Rodman, both of Ashland.
Services were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday from the home with Rolland Justice and Monroe Sammons as officiating ministers.
Music was by the Toms Creek Quartet.
Burial was made in the Wells Cemetery.
