DAVID LANEY 1903-1955 David Laney, 52 White House Man Passes Thursday Services Sunday for C & O employee Dave Laney, 52, died at his home at White House at 6:05 a.m. Thursday. August 10, a victim of cancer. He had been ill for the past three years. The son of Paul and Cordela Crum Laney, he was born June 12, 1903 in Martin County. He had been a resident of White House for the past seven years, and was employeed by the C & O railway prior to his illness. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. He was married at White House, April 12, 1925 to May Smith who survives. Surviving besides the widow are ten children; three daughters, Mrs. Ray Castle, Cordelia and Daisy Laney, all of White House, seven sons; Ed, Dave, Wade, James, Joe, Bob and Hobert Laney, all at home. Also surviving are four sisters; Mrs. Mary Spencer, Davisport; Mrs. Ed Lemaster, Port Huron, Michigan; Mrs. Pricilla Stambaugh, Yellow Springs, Ohio; Mrs. Margaret Smith, Paintsville; Arlie, Offutt and Wade, Port Huron, Michigan, and one grandchild. Funeral services were conducted from the Hammond Freewill Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, August 14, by Jack Pruitt and Clyde Bowlin.
