EDWIN PRICE BURCHETT
Edwin Price Burchett departed this life on October 11, 1981 at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio after a short illness. He was the son of Herman and Minnie Stambaugh Burchett, born January 25, 1925 in Van Lear, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, and three brothers, Willard, Francis Marion and John Morgan Burchett. He is survived by his wife, Judith Ann Burchett, West Chester, Ohio; three children: Mark Alan, Linda Lee and Scott Howard, West Chester, Ohio. Also surviving are four sisters: Mary Elizabeth Nash, Grayson, Kentucky; Jimmie Ann Farley, Jenkins, Kentucky; Donna Sue Howington and Nancy Lou Mullins of West Chester, Ohio.
Mr. Burchett was a veteran of World War II, serving as a radio gunner on a B-17. His plane was hit by enemy fire during a bombing mission over Austria. After parachuting out of the plane, he was captured and was a Prisoner of War in Germany until liberated in 1945.
He was a 1943 graduate of Jenkins High School, Jenkins, Kentucky, and the University of Cincinnati in 1951. At his death, he had worked for General Electric for 30 years. He was the head of Technical Publications at the GE Plant in Evandale, Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1978, he was selected as a member of their Aircraft Engine Group Centennial Club. Only 100 employees worldwide received this honor. This club was established for General Electric’s Centennial.
Funeral service was held at the chapel of the Shafer Funeral Home, Mason Ohio, on Wednesday, October 14, at Mason, Ohio. Officiating minister was his brother-in-law Dr. Donald A. Nash, Grayson, Kentucky, with his nephew, Dr. David A. Nash, Lexington, Kentucky, delivering the eulogy.
Pallbearers were his nephews, and honorary pallbearers were his brothers-in-law.
Burial was in the Brookside Cemetery, Union Township, West Chester, Ohio.
