Johnny Blanton, 59, of Staffordsville, died March 5, 1998, at UK
Medical Center in Lexington.
   
He was born December 17, 1938, in Winn, the son of Grover Blanton
and Addle Blanton.
   
He was preceded in death by his parents.
   
He is survived by his wife, Oples "Opal" Blanton of Staffordsville;
two sons, David Kenneth Blanton of Grapevine, Texas; and Paul
Dewayne Blanton of Ft. Worth, Texas; two stepsons, Lloyd Fannin of
Cooksville, Tenn.; and Jerry Fannin of Prestonsburg; one step-
daughter, Betty Jean Fannin of Crestwood; one sister, Ruth Blanton
of Columbus, Ohio; five grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandhild.
  
Services were March 8, at the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel with
Rev. Mike Blanton and Keith Horn officiating.
  
Burial was in the Williams Family Cemetery in Oil Springs.
