MARTHA JANE BAYES
1883-1963
Mrs. Martha Jane Bayes, 79, died at her home at Stambaugh at 6:40 am,
Wednesday July 3, after an illness of several months.
The daughter of Julius and Florence Witten Burchett, she was born November 4,
1883, at Stambaugh and had been a lifelong resident of that community. She
was a member of the Church of Christ.
Her husband, Warren Bayes, preceded her in death nine years ago.
Surviving are two sons, Ervin and Virgil Bayes, both of Ashland; two
daughters, Mrs. Gilbert Stambaugh, Stambaugh; Mrs. Howard Dills, Nippa; a
brother, Edd Burchett, Stambaugh; five sisters, Mrs. Artie Short, Mrs. Alice
Stambaugh, Mrs. Bertha Stambaugh, Mrs. Lockie Kazee all of Stambaugh; Mrs.
Hester Castle, Nippa. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and fourteen
great- grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:30pm, Friday at the Stambaugh Church of
Christ with S.C. Honeycutt and Milt Blankenship as officiating ministers.
Burial was in the family cemetery.
