Pneumonia Takes David S. Bayes
David Sherman Bayes, 81, died at his home at Swamp Branch Tuesday, January 4, after an illness of nine days with pneumonia.
He was born Nov. 1, 1867, the son of Jack and Delia Tackett Bayes, of this county. He was a lifelong resident of Swamp Branch, where he engaged in farming.
He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by seven children; one daughter, Mrs Sampie Collins, of Riceville, and six sons, Challie Bayes, Carey, Ohio, Pete, Swamp Branch, Millard Bayes, Salyersville, Ky., Newt, Salyersville, Sam, Riceville, and Floyd, Leander.
Surviving also is one-half sister, Mrs. Ben Collins, Naples, Ky.
Funeral services were conducted at the home today at 1:00 p.m. by Revs. Scott Castle, James Yates, and Hargus Conley.
Burial was in the family cemetery under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home.
