Auxier Woman Died Saturday at Local Hospital
Mrs. Earl H. Wiley, prominent woman of Auxier, ky., died at the
Paintsville Clinic at 10:00 o’clock last Saturday evening. She
had been seriously ill for several days, but despite medical skill
and care she passed into the great beyond
Mrs. Wiley was a devout Christian and had been a member of the
River Uniited Baptist Church since 1932 She wielded and
influence for good in her community and her passing is mourned by
a large number of relatives and friend in Johnson and Floyd
Counties.
She was the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Forest Preston of Offutt, and
was the mother of four small children, Wade Douglas, Faye Earlene,
Wilma Grace and Oneida May.
Besides her children she is survived by her husband and father and
mother, four sister, Loretta Preston Spears, Imogene Preston
Boggs, Grace and Billy Preston. One daughter Raymond, Preceded
her in death several years ago
The body was taken to River for burial in the family cemetery
there A large crowd attended the funeral and burial.
A friend of Mr. Wiley contributed the following beautiful lines:
“ In the Father’s house are mansions of love;
There is this one and the other above;
So I shall not weep when called to long rest;
For the place where I go is really the best.
The place where I live has only one door
And scarcely any light through it doth pour,
But some day this door will swing wide and tall,
And reveal that bright room at the end of the hall.”
