MANDA WITTEN 1940 Mrs. Manda Short Witten, age 84, died December 29, at her home at Oil Springs. She had been ill for two weeks. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grantion Short who preceded her in death many years ago. Besides her husband, G. W. Witten, she is survived by the following children: Mrs. Ed Dixon, Oil Springs; Mrs. Thomas Meade, Staffordsville and Nora and Stella Witten at home. She is also survived by one brother, Walker Short, and two sisters, Mrs. Martha Hall and Mrs. Rachael Spears. She had spent her life in this county and had been a member of the Christian Church for 65 years. Funeral services were held at Oil Springs in charge of Revs. J. H. Short and Leonard Short. Burial near Oil Springs. Paintsville Herald Thursday January 9, 1941
