SALLY WHEELER
1890-1965
Mrs. Sally Blanton Wheeler, 74, a resident of King Addition,
Paintsville, died Friday, March 26, at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. Ralph Conley, near Staffordsville.
She was one of the county’s most respected women, and her sudden
death from a heart attack came as a great shock to her family and
friends. She was a devout Christian woman, a good mother,
neighbor, and friend. She gave of her services unstintingly to
those who were ill or in need.
She was born July 21, 1890 in Johnson County, a daughter of
Charlie and Mary Cantrell Prichard. She was married first to
Walter Blanton who died in 1944, and in 1958 she was married to G.
Monroe Wheeler of this city, who died in 1958.
Surviving is one son, James Blanton, Albion, Pa., four daughters,
Dixie Blanton, Win, Ky., Mrs. Ollie Conley, Staffordsville, Ky.,
Mona Rooker, Seattle, Wash., and Mabel Blanton, Paintsville; four
step-brothers, Rev. Cline Sayler, Paintsville, Arthur Salyer, and
Hasten Salyer, both of Louisville, and Homer Salyer, Ashland, and
14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday March 29 at the
Paintsville United Baptist Church by Foster Rigsby, Lonza Reed,
Arnold Reed and Tommy Bailey.
Burial was in the family plot in the Jaynes Cemetery at Mud Lick.
