BYRON VANHOOSE
1888-1974

Byron VanHoose, 85, of Paintsville, died in a local hospital last
Thursday, May 23, 1974 after an extended illness.

Born June 21, 1888, Mr. VanHoose was the son of the late Harry and
Elizabeth Dixon VanHoose. He was the yard foreman for F. S. VanHoose
Lumber Company and a member of the Mouth of Rush Freewill Baptist
Church.

His first wife, Lula Hayes VanHoose preceded him in death on August
24, 1971 and he is survived by his second wife, Dovie Collins
VanHoose.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Opal Helton of Pompana
Beach, Florida and Betty Powell of Paintsville; five grandchildren;
one great grandchild; two step sons, Roy Collins of Ohio and Peanut
Collins of Paintsville; a step daughter, Manda Collins of Van Lear; a
half- brother, Bert E. VanHoose of Tutor Key and a half-sister,
Gladys Burchett of Stambaugh.

Funeral services for Mr. VanHoose were held Sunday, May 26, in the
Mouth of Rush Freewill Baptist Church with Reverends James K. Caudill
and C. C. Hall officiating.

Burial was in the VanHoose Cemetery at Nippa with arrangements under
the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home.
