HERSHELL TACKETT
1911-1989
Retired miner, Hershell Tackett, 78, died Saturday, October 14, in
Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Tackett was born June 27, 1911 in Johnson County, the son of
Sanford and Dora Bayes Tackett.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel Frazier Tackett; six sons, Jack,
Paul, Ronnie, and William, all of Paintsville, Rema, of Detroit,
Michigan, and Gary, of Ashland; five daughters, Betty Tackett,
Garnett Blanton, Addie Hensley, and Darlene Dye, all of
Paintsville, and Maxine Shaver, of Brighton, Michigan; one brother,
Harvie, of West Van Lear; five sisters, Mrs. O. T. Brown, of
Paintsville, Loraine Conley, of Hager Hill, Marie Pelphrey, of
River, Nola Mae McKenzie, of Ashland, and Jessie, of Ohio; and 31
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 17, in Jones- Preston
Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial was in Jayne Cemetery at Staffordsville.
