BOULDER CRUSHES MAN TO DEATH AT OFFUTT NOV.11
SERVICES AT HOME FOR EVERETT RATLIFF
Everett Ratliff, 34, was killed accidentally November 11 near
Offutt when a huge boulder fell from atop a coal seam, crushing
him to death instantly.
He was digging coal from the seam at the time.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Ratliff, he was born February 16
1917 at Whitehouse.
He had been a resident of Offutt for the past eight years. He was
a member of the Freewill Baptist Church and was a rail road worker
by occupation.
Surviving besides his wife, Mrs. Ruby Ratliff, are three sons and
one daughter: Everett Lee Ratliff, Paintsville; Freddie K.,
Charles Vencil, and Patricia Gail Ratliff, all of Offutt.
Also surviving are one brother and five sisters: CleoRatliff,
Hardy, Ky.; Mrs. Garnett Dyer, Willard, Ohio; Mrs. Glady Conners,
Dayton, O.; Mrs. Dovie Rose, Berwind, W. Va.; Mrs. Virginia
Gibson, Mansfield, Ohio; Mrs. Mae Laney, Whitehouse.
Funeral rites were conducted at 1:00 p.m. November 14, athis home
in Offutt, with the Rev. Charlie Bailey officiating.
Burial was made in the River Cemetery, with the Preston Funeral
Home directing.
