LARRY E. HITCHCOCK 1930-1966 S/Sgt. Larry E. Hitchcock, 34, Volga, was killed May 5 in West Germany in an auto accident. Mr. Hitchcock was serving with the Army engineers in Germany. Born July 19, 1930, Sgt. Hitchcock was a son of Cecil and Susie Brown Hitchcock of Volga. He was an Army career man having been in the U.S. Army since 1951 and in Germany since December 1964. Sgt. Hitchcock graduated from Caney College prior to enlisting in the service. Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Mrs. Ruth Hitchcock, one son Ronnie, age 6 and one daughter Donna Lynn, age 7. Other survivors include one sister, Mrs. Ester Gail Brown, Huntsville, Ala.; two brothers, Hardis Joel Hitchcock, Port Clinton, Ohio and Sardis Hitchcock, Volga. Funeral services were held May 16 in the Cannon Chapel Methodist Church with the Rev. Bruce Daniel officiating. Music was furnished by the Angus Castle Quartet. Special military services were conducted at the family cemetery at Volga by special Army detachment from Fort Knox. Burial was in the family cemetery. Paintsville Herald Wednesday 5-19-1965
