 CARMEL DALE HITCHCOCK
1927-1948

Carmel Dale Hitchcock, 21, son of Cecil and Susie Brown Hitchcock
of Volga and a driver for the Paintsville Bus Lines, was found
dead in his car early Saturday morning near Cannon Chapel Church
on Highway 172. He died from internal injuries sustained when his
car apparently left the highway.

The body was discovered by two men passing in a truck, who
investigated the accident after noticing the car over the hill.

Surviving besides his parents are his wife, Marie Stockwell
Hitchcock, and two small children.

Also surviving are several brothers and sisters. Funeral services
were held at the home of his father Monday, November 15, at 10:00
a.m., by Revs. Millard Van Hoose, Scott Castle, and Harry Salyer.

Burial was in the family cemetery on Stone Coal under the
direction of the Jones Funeral Home.

CARMEL DALE HITCHCOCK

Carmel Dale Hitchcock, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs Cecil Hitchcock of
Volga, was found dead in his automobile early on the morning of
November 13 near Cannon Chapel in this county.

He died from internal injuries sustained when his car apparently
left the highway.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Marie Stockwell
Hitchcock and two children, Jerry Dale, aged 4, and Kathie
Lorraine, aged 3 months. He also leaves several brothers and
sisters.

Carmel entered the Army on June 6, 1945 and served his country in
the states and also in Italy and Bermuda. He was honorably
discharged on Jan. 27, 1947 after which he entered Mayo State
Vocational School where he studied salesmanship.

Funeral services were conducted on November 15 by Revs. Millard
Van Hoose, Scott Castle and Harry Salyer.

Burial was made in the family cemetery on Glade Branch of Big
Paint.
