Flat Gap Man Dies Thursday Services Saturday For Elige Gamble, 68
Elige Gamble, 68, a resident of Flat Gap for a number of years,
succumbed Thursday, May 3, in a local hospital following an illness
of a week.
The son of the late Lonz and Victoria Cantrell Gamble, he was born
December 1, 1888, in Morgan County. He was a farmer and a member of
the Bethel United Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Lillie May Wright Gamble, six son, Jack,
Jessie and Lonza Gamble, all of Springfield, Ohio, Kennel Gamble,
Flat Gap, and Ossie Gamble, Franklin, Ohio; and four daughters,
Marvie Combs, Cincinnati, Ohio, Viola Combs, Dayton, Ohio, Betty Cox,
Red Bush, and Matta Jane Flanery, Columbus, Ohio.
Also surviving are five sisters, Louise Whitt, Fairborn, O., Millie
Wright, Silver Hill, Ky., Margaret Wright, Mima, Ky., Nora Wright,
Silver Hill, Ky., and Betty Cantrell, Ophir, Ky., and six brothers,
Willie Gamble, Dingus, Ky., Chilli Gamble, Mima, Ky., John Red
Gamble, Ophir, Ky., Haney Gamble, West Liberty, Hatfield Gamble,
Ophir, Ky., and Floyd Gamble, Dingus, Ky.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning at the Bethel Church at
Flat Gap with Lonza Reed as the officiating minister.
Burial was made in the Jaynes Cemetery under the direction of the
Preston Funeral Home.
