GRANT FLETCHER World War I Vet Dies August 19 Grant Fletcher, age 72, died Friday, August 19 1966, 3:50 a.m. at the Paintsville Hospital after a brief illness. Fletcher was a son of Pat and Martha Castle Fletcher, born December 29 1895 at Nippa. He had lived in Lowmansville for the past 30 years, and was a member of the United Baptist Church. Surviving are three uncles, Elize Pelphrey, of Volga; Elliott Pelphrey, of Galloway, Ohio; and Jess Fletcher, of Tutor Key; and an aunt, Martha Pelphrey of West Van Lear. Fletcher was a World War I Veteran. Funeral services were held Sunday, August 21, 11:00 a.m. at the George's Creek United Baptist Church at Lowmansville, with Lonza Reed, John Crum, Charlie Hackney, and Bascom Daniels officiating. Interment followed in the Clark Castle Cemetery at Nippa under direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home. Gravesite rites were conducted by the Paintsville D.A.V. Chapter.
