WILLIAM FANNIN 1885-1960 William Fannin, 85, resident of Thelma, died in a local hospital at 1:15 p.m., Sunday, October 2, of a heart attack. He had been in ill health for the past four years. The son of Andy and Josie Franklin Fannin, he was born in Lawrence County April 11, 1885, and had lived at Thelma for the past fifty years. He was a retired miner and a member of the United Baptist Church. His wife, Mary Essie Butcher Fannin, preceded him in death May 25, 1954. Survivors include a son, Ernest Fannin, Thelma; a daughter, Mrs. Neva Fields, Beauty; 47 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and three great-great- grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 5 from the Old Friendship United Baptist Church at Williamsport with Grover Fannin, Nim Sturgill and Everett Crum. Burial was in the Butcher Cemetery at Williamsport. Paintsville Herald Wednesday 5 October 1960
