ED DIXON 1882-1962 Ed Dixon, 79, died at his home at Meally at 7:15 p.m., Thursday, February 1,1962 following an extended illness. A lifelong resident of Johnson County he was born July 6, 1882, the son of the late Thomas J. and Eliza McFarland Dixon. A member of the Freewill Baptist Church since 1903, he had lived at Meally for the past five years and worked as a painting contractor. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lydia Witten Dixon; a son, McKinley Dixon, Columbus, O.; four daughters, Mrs. Carma Hitchcock and Mrs. Marie Lewis, Louisa; Mrs. Mary Goble, Mechanicsburg, Ohio; Mrs. Gaynell Gillispie, Meally; three brothers, Rev. Will Dixon, Ashland; Frank Dixon, Wayland; Manford Dixon, Columbus, Ohio. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 1:00 p.m. from the Meally Church of Christ with J. H. Short as officiating minister. Burial was in the Litteral Cemetery at Oil Springs. Paintsville Herald published 2-7-1962
