Passes March 10 Rites At Sycamore For "Uncle Clark"
Beverly Lawrence Castle, 93, better known as "Uncle Clark," died
Saturday, March 10, 1951 at the home of his son, Sterling Castle,
following a week's illness.
One of the county's oldest citizens, he was an admired and respected
resident of his community and widely known throughout the county. A
native of this county, he was born August 28, 1857, the son of the
late Drewy and Sarah Ward Castle. A prominent farmer before his
retirement, he was affiliated with the Freewill Baptist church. He
was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy VanHoose Castle in November
26, 1939, and also by one daughter and two sons.
Survivors include three sons, Sterling, Nippa, Oscar, Wittensville,
and Harrison, Nippa.
Funeral services were conducted at the Sycamore Church Monday, March
12, at 2:00 p.m., by Revs. Claude Preston and Millard Van Hoose with
songs by the Toms Creek Singers.
Burial was in the Castle cemetery at Nippa under the direction of the
Jones Funeral Home.
