BERTHA CASTLE 1886-1965 Mrs. Bertha Castle, 79, died in the Southern Hills Hospital, Portsmouth, Ohio, November 28, 2:55 p.m. A resident of Lowmansville, she was born March 4, 1886 at Nippa, and the daughter of Henry and Lena Castle Scarberry. A member of the Freewill Baptist Church, she was married to Amos Castle, deceased May 7, 1950. She is survived by five daughters, Monnie Preston of Lowmansville; Millie Sadler of Nippa; Edna Hampton of Canton, Ohio; Envie Chandler of Beaver, Ohio; and Zelma Rapp of Waverly, Ohio; two sons, Mitchell Castle of South Shore, KY., and Amos Castle, Jr. of Astabulia, Ohio. Also three brothers, Malcolm Scarberry of Martin; Foster Scarberry of Nippa; Alfred Scarberry of Lowmansville; and 34 grandchildren. Funeral services were held December 1, 11:00 a.m. at the Mouth of Rush Freewill Baptist Church with Claude Preston and Millard VanHoose officiating and the Tom's Creek Quartet. Burial was held in the Sycamore Cemetery, Nippa under the direction of the Preston Funeral Home. NOTE: This cemetery is also known as the Clark Castle Cemetery.
