JEFF BUTCHER
1893-1962
Jeff Butcher, 79, died at the Castle Fork Rest Home at 5 p.m.
Wednesday, June 6, from the effects of a stroke. He had been ill for
the past three months.
Mr. Butcher was born July 28, 1893, at Williamsport, the son of the
late John W. and Julia Davis Butcher.
A retired school teacher and farmer, he had been a lifelong resident
of that community.
His wife preceded him in death in 1917.
Survivors include a son, Jack Butcher, Lexington; a daughter, Mrs.
Delilah Ruth, Lexington; four brothers, Atley and Hershell Butcher,
both of Williamsport; Glen Butcher, city, Bill Butcher, Miamisburg,
OH; two sisters. Mrs. Earl Marcum, Williamsport; Mrs. Arnold Higgins,
Chattanooga, TN. Also surviving are five grandchildren and 11 great
grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the Old
Friendship United Baptist church with Mitchell Grim, Winfrey Meek and
F. F. Rigsby as officiating ministers.
Burial was in the Butcher Cemetery at Williamsport.
