CLAUDE BLANTON JR.
1924-1995
Paintsville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Claude
Blanton, Jr., 71, who died Tuesday, August 1 at Paul B. Hall Regional
Medical Center.
Mr. Blanton was born January 29, 1924, in Johnson County, the son of
the late Claude and Flossie Reed Blanton.
He was a retired oil well driller and veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Wilma Godsey Blanton; four sons, Charles of
River, Lenzie of Oil Springs, Jerry of Akron, IN, and Sedrick of West
Liberty; two daughters, Peggy Webb and Joyce Fairchild, both of Oil
Springs; three brothers, Bill of Oil Springs and Bob and Bert, both
of Paintsville; three sisters, Manda Cantrell of Oil Springs, Neva
Lee Bayes of Flat Gap and Anna Gray of Hamilton, OH; and 13
grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 4, at Pigeon Enterprise
Baptist Church, Oil Springs, with Revs. Charles Stapleton and Lenzie
Meade officiating.
Burial was in Blanton Cemetery at Oil Springs.
