ONDA AKERS 1911-1964 Onda Akers, 51, died Wednesday, May 20, in Whitley County Hospital, Columbia City, Indiana, following a brief illness.
A son of the late Robert and Callie Mollett Akers, he was born in this county November 27, 1911, and had made his home in Indiana for the past twenty years. He was a member of the United Baptist Church and foreman for the Gatlee Corporation. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Beulah Bayes Akers, a son, Stepen Dewayen Akers, Columbia City, Ind.; three daughters, Mrs. Bobbie Jean Arnett, Mrs. Betty Jo Gregory, Mrs. Callie Lee Shafer all of Warsaw, Ind.; a half brother, John Akers, Peru, Ind.; four half sisters, Mrs. Edna Milom and Mrs. Lucy Carpenter both of East Point; Mrs. Josephine Gibson and Mrs. Amba Smith both of Peru, Ind. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Sunday at the Lick Fork United Baptist Church with Virgil Bailey and Paris Music as officiating ministers.
