My purpose in creating the 'Mousseau' gedcom file

My Mousseau - Venne family line is the one true problem area that I have with my Quebec side of genealogical research. For that reason I have put up this short family tree from a gedcom file containing the Mousseau surname and their spouses from information that I have extracted from Jette, Tanguay, Drouin, PRDH etc. The idea is that fellow researchers could help expand the known Mousseau listings by contributings information on their own family lines up to the mid 1800's.

This WorldConnect family tree system has a 'post-em' note system through which others can submit their own info for a tree. If you are interested, you are certainly welcome to submit additional information that you have collected in your own research - this can then help extend the Mousseau tree as it now appears. (I tested the 'note' system and it does appear to work, an example can be seen if you click on the 'Kelly' surname listing in the index. The family tree owner also receives the same information by email so it appears to be an efficient method to share your research.)

If you are interested in using this note system and are not familiar with it, (you need to use a password but it is a very easy to use system), you can check out the instructions at: Post-em Notes

My Mousseau problem!

Francois MOUSSEAU married Domithilde HAMEL on 22 Nov 1825, Ste-Croix (Lotbiniere), Quebec. The Loiselle listing for their marriage indicated that the parents of Francois Mousseau were:
Frs (Mousseau) & Julie JANVEINE, L'Assomption
The Janveine surname is known by a number of variations including: Venne, Vene, Voine, Vaine, Voyne, etc.

The estimated dates of birth for both Francois Mousseau and Domithilde Hamel (and therefore the possible marriage of his parents) both fall around the 1799 time period, which as we all know is pretty well the time at which all of the normal research tools end their coverage (Jette, Tanguay, Drouin, Lebeouf etc). This couple had at least 14 children, so it would appear that Francois would have married at an earlier age, rather than a later one.

It has been suggested to me that the parents of Francois were actually Louis MOUSSEAU and Madeleine VEINE-JANVEINE married on 09 Mar 1764 in L'Assomption - there was no source offered for this information however; and the marriage date seems early to be the parents for an individual married in 1825.

The PRDH shows a marriage for Louis Mousseau and Marie Madeleine Venne on 09 Feb 1779, but the only child listed for the family is Marie Madeleine MOUSSEAU, married to Joseph MIVILLE CADET on 25 Sep 1798 in L'Assomption. Louis Mousseau was also married to Marie Genevieve PENNETON CIFRE on 11 Jan 1762 in L'Assomption and to Marie Catherine MARSAN LAPIERRE on 27 Feb 1764 in L'Assomption (there are no children listed at all on the PRDH for the latter 2 marriages).

As 'my' Francois was married 25 years later in 1825, it does not appear overly likely that the Louis Mousseau/Marie Madeleine Venne couple would be his parents - especially in the light that there is no record of a Francois for this couple and the fact that the name Frs (Franscois) was mentioned as his father during the recording of the Mousseau/Hamel marriage.
