Calk, Elijah (b. 1770, d. 1852)
Note: Elijah CALK was their younger brother and too young to take any part in the Rev. War.

My strong circumstantial evidence that Elijah was a younger brother is as follows. There was only one CALK family in the Lexington area. Elijah is found in court records as a witness on deeds for the former commanding officer of James and William and other men who they served with. Elijah is connected with the familys in and around James & William and their father James. I know that the father James, his son William and Elijah went to GA where the father James and William fought in a battle in GA and received bounty land in GA for their service. They sold this land and returned to SC. However, Elijah must have met someone and fell in love because when his father and brother returned to SC he remained in GA and married his first wife. After his first wife died in Clarke co., AL between 1818 & 1819, I believe that Elijah returned to SC and married Mary YOUNSE and brought her back to AL with him. I have surmised this because there was no YOUNSE family living in Clarke Co., AL and both Mary and her son Julius were both born in SC. I do not believe that a woman and young boy would trek off through the wilderness by themselves in those days. Of course her husband could have been with them and died on the trip. With Elijah having a young baby and needing a wife he could have met them and they were married as a convience to both of them. Julius YOUNSE was raised as a son and he married one of Elijah's daughters. he is also found on many court records with the CALK family.
