VINTON PERKINS
Vinton O. Perkins, 51, of Rupert, a member of the Harned Fowler VFWPost in
Manchester, died Thursday afternoon in Stevens Hospital inGranville, N.Y.
Born Sept 22, 1925 in Wells, he was the son of Clinton and TeresaPerkins. A
veteran of World War II, he was employed by TelescopeFolding Furniture Co.
Survivors include his wife, the former Mildred Greene of Rupert; hismother and
stepfather, Arthur McWithey of Wells; three daughters; twobrothers; two
sisters; four grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts anduncles.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Saturday in St. Francis CabriniChurch in
West Pawlet by the Rev. Richard Thompson. Burial will be inEvergreen Cemetery
in Salem, N.Y., at a later date.
Friends may call at the King Funeral Home in Granville today from 2 to4 and 7
to 9 pm with recitations of the Rosary at 8.
If friends desire, contributions to the Salem or Granville rescuesquads may be
made in Mr. Perkins' memory.

LESTER PERRY
Lester Perry, 77, of 1222 W. 7th St., died at 9 p.m. Thursday at St.Francis
Hospital of a stroke.
He was born on Aug. 13, 1891, near New Hartford, the son of Mr. andMrs. Henry
E. Perry. He was a round house clerk
for the Illinois Central Railroad for 15 years. He formerly farmed inthe New
Hartford and Waverly areas.
He married Myra Morton Wolfensperger on April 1, 1929 in Cedar Falls.He was a
member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He is survived byhis widow, three
step-sons Wendell Wollfensperger, 1631 Gibson St.,Cedar Falls; Harold
Wollfensperger, Rt. 2, Robert Wollfensperger of 510 West Longview St.,North
Cedar Cedar Falls; one step-daughter Mrs. John Rockwood, 393Scenic Drive, nine
grand children and nine great grand children.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by one brother.
Funeral services will held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Parrott & WoodChapel,
when friends may call after 4. p.m on Saturday.

Pleasant Knolls Golf Club former owner
W. Edward Peters, 82, of Stoney Brook Road, died Aug. 20, 2005 inCrouse
Hospital, Syracuse, where he had been a patient for the pastfour days. Born in
Hecla on Dec. 12, 1922, he was the son of Edwardand Elsie Duinn Peters. A
graduate of Vernon High School, class of1941, Ed attended Springfield College
until the bombing of PearlHarbor, when he enlisted in the military.
He married Doris Colvin in the First Presbyterian Church of Oneida onFeb. 25,
1950. Mrs. Peters died on July 1, 2003.
Ed and Doris purchased a farm in 1959 on Stoney Brook Road and builtwith their
family in 1963, Pleasant Knolls Golf Club, which they ownedand operated for 36
years until its sale in 1999. Previously he hadbeen employed with Keebler
Bisquit Company as a sales representativeand also had previously been employed
with John Black and KeithStrong, Builders and the former Dewan Dairy.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Oneida, the
OneidaCommunity Golf Club, the Pleasant Knolls Golf Club, the AmericanLegion,
the Order of the Owls, Oneida Nest 1606 and was a life memberof the Golf
Course Superintendents Association of Central New York,where he was to have
received an award. He maintained numerousmemberships in various golf
associations and served on boards for thetown of Verona.
A dedicated husband, father and grandfather, Ed enjoyed events and hiswinters
in New Smyrna Beach. He was an avid golfer and bowler. Aveteran of World War
11, he served in the United States Army SignalCorps in the Pacific Theatre.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Jon Downer ofVerona; one
son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Michele Peters ofBaldwinsville; one sister,
Violet Trost of Vernon; one brother andsister-in-law, Leon and Minnie Peters
of Stephens City, Va.; eightgrandchildren, Amy Patricia, Julie and her
husband, Dave Snediker,Erin and her husband, Jason
Lockwood, Mike Geer, Lauran Peters, Ted Peters, Johna Kjerstad andMcKenzie
Kjerstad; his special pey, Aly and several nieces andnephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Amann on April 22, 2005.Funeral
services were held at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church, Route5, Vernon.
Interment will be made at the convenience of the family inGlenwood Cemetery.
Friends called at the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home,Inc., 260 Main Street,
Oneida.

1809 Mary "Polly" Vaile (Vail), Tuskarawa,Muskingum County, Ohio. She died Jan
15, 1832, age 41 yrs, 1 mo. 16days. Both are buried in the Peterson-Vail
Cemetery, Ashland Co.,Ohio. John Griggs was apparently named in honor of the
Griggs familyfrom whom his grandmother, Margaret Griggs Peterson is descended.

John Griggs Peterson was a man of substantial wealth for his time. Heleft a
Will dated April 14, 1845 and executed June 27, 1845, RichlandCo., Ohio,
