Phippen had conducted his farm in Delmar for 45years. He was born July 20,
1848, at Lawrenceville. Mrs. Phippen diedabout two years ago. He is survived
by a daughter, Mrs. JeannetteBowers of Victor, N. Y.; two sons, Ross and Loren

VICTOR -- Funeral services were held this afternoon from the CottonFuneral
Home, Victor, for Loren F. Phippen, 71, of 39 High St. He diedThursday in
Thompson Hospital, Canandaigua.
A resident of Victor for more than 20 years, he was the son of thelate Loren
D. and Sophia Boyden Phippen of Wellsboro, Pa. Born Aug.15, 1891, Mr. Phippen
moved to Victor in 1941 and was employed by theVictor Insulators until his
recent retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie Spencer Phippen; two sons, Merle ofVictor
and Ross, of Canandaigua; two daughters, Mrs. Norman [sic,Orin] Pittenger of
Victor and Mrs. Geralda Rouse of Bristol, Tenn.; asister, Mrs. Nettie Bowers
of Victor; 11 grandchildren, several niecesand nephews, including Kenneth
Phippen, who had resided with his uncleand aunt.
Interment was in the Boughton Hill Cemetery, Victor, with the Rev.Percy F.
Asher, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating.

Victor Man Is Ruled A Suicide
VICTOR -- The body of Merle P. Phippen 45, of 6455 Victor-ManchesterRd.,
[Route 90] was found about 5 o'clock last night at his home. Hedied of a
self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Ontario County Sheriff Department said Mr. Phippen took his ownlife in the
family room of his home. The body was discovered by hiswife, Lucille, when she
returned home from work.
Phippen had been employed by Farrel Corp of Rochester. Dr. CharlesBathrick a
county coroner, pronounced Mr. Phippen dead at theresidence. He ruled death by
suicide.
The investigation was conducted by Sheriff Edward Gulnan.
Mr. Phippen is survived by his wife, Lucille Peglow Phippen; onedaughter, Mrs.
Kenneth [Sue] Tay of Victor; one son, Loren D., U.S.Navy, San Diego, Calif.,
his mother Mrs. Loren Phippen of Victor; twosisters, Mrs. Orin [Norma]
Pittinger of Victor; Mrs. Brady [Gerelda]Rouse of Morristown, Tenn., and one
brother, Ross of Canandaigua.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at St. John's LutheranChurch,
Victor. No prior calling hours will be held.
In lieu of flowers friends may send contributions for the St. John'sLutheran
Church Memorial Fund or the Victor-Farmington Ambulance Fundto Cotton Funeral
Home, in charge of funeral arrangements.

He had made his home on North Branch street extensionpreviously.
Mr. Pierce was born Jan. 21, 1883 at St. Margaret's Bay,' Nova Scotia.A
teamster he had last worked at the E?? Estes Lumber Co. He was nowretired.
Survivors include his wife, the former Elizabeth Mitchell, two sons,Lawrence
of Cropseyville, NY, and Earl of  Bennington, one, daughter,Mrs. Russell
(Helen) Moon of Williamstown, Mass, one brother, HowardPierce of Bennington; a
sister, Sarah Palis, Calais, Me.; twostepsons, Fayette Colvin of Bennington
and Frank Colvin of Troy; onestepdaughter, Elizabeth McCusker of Cambridge,
Mass.; also severalgrandchildren.
Mr. Pierce was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church and ladserved as a
deacon there.
The funeral arrangements are incomplete. Friends may call at WalbridgeFuneral
Home Saturday afternoon and evening and Sunday afternoon andevening between 2
and 4 and 7 and 9.

Linal Pierce, a respected citizen of this place, died very suddenly
onSaturday.
He was at work in the town hall putting up the booths for electionday, when he
was sitricken with a shock of apoplexy. He was taken tohis home and died about
7 o'clock the same evening. The family havethe sympathy of this community in
this their sad affliction. Mr.Pierce was about 70 years of age.
