Covered Wagon, 1879; Services Friday     Final ritesfor Mrs. Thomas H. Smith,
who passed away Wednesday, Febr. 6, wereheld from the Chapman-Higby chapel
Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock withRev. Paul Porter in charge. Clarabelle Burt,
accompanied by Mrs.Charles Whitney at the organ, sang 'Beautiful Isle' and
'Old RuggedCross.     In failing health for several years she had been
incritical condition since January 8 when she fell in her home,fracturing her
right hip.     Katherine Georgia Nichols was born atBroadhead [sic],
Wisconsin, May 3, 1863, and passed away at Aurora,Nebr., on February 6, 1946,
at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 3days.     She came with her parents to
Nebraska in a covered wagon in1879. The family located on a farm six miles
south of Aurora. Here sheattended the public schools and grew to womanhood.    
She was unitedin marriage to Thomas H. Smith on September 11, 1884, at Clay
Center,Nebr. Eleven children were born to this union, two dying in infancy.Mr.
and Mrs. Smith spent their entire wedded life in or near Aurora.Here they
reared their family and won for themselves many finefriends.     Mrs. Smith
was converted and joined the Methodist churchwhen a girl of 15 years. After
coming to Aurora she placed hermembership in the United Brethren church of
which she was a member atthe time of her death.     Her passing is mourned by
her husband; 3sons, Thomas, Jr. of Aurora, Lester and Floyd of Los Angeles,
Calif; 6daughters, Mrs. Lela Hamilton and Mrs. Cecile Strong of Aurora,
Mrs.Nellie Miller of Grand Island, Mrs. Eva Daggett and Mrs. Lila Sellersof
Spokane, Wash., and Mrs. Rosella Lulow of Marquette; 10grandchildren, 5 great
grandchildren, and many friends.Pallbearers were: F. E. Edgerton, Dennis
Saylor, Levi Humrich, WillShaneyfelt, James Stewart and Clayton Machamer.    
Interment was inthe Aurora cemetery.

"Grand Island Daily Independent" [Grand Island, Hall Co., NE], 14/15March
1958:Services MondayFor Mrs. Page     Funeral services forMrs. Lenora A.
Page, widow of Adolph Page, and a resident of GrandIsland for more than 45
years, will be held at 2 o'clock Mondayafternoon in the Livingston-Sondermann
Funeral Home. The Rev. A. J.Goodson, pastor of the First Congregational
Church, will conduct theservice. Burial is to be at Chapman.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 o'clock Sunday evening at
theLivingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.     Mrs. Page died Thursdayevening in
a local hospital following an illness of one year. She hadbeen critically ill
for the last two weeks. Her home was at 311 WestDivision.     Mrs. Page was
born Oct. 10, 1870, at Springgrove, Wis.When she was a child of ten, the
family came westward and settled atGiltner.     Mrs. and Mrs. Page were
married in November of 1892 atChapman. They made their home in Chapman and at
Giltner before movingto Central City in 1898. It was in 1911 that they came to
Grand Islandto make their permanent residence. Mr. Page died here Oct. 22,
1932.Mrs. Page was a member of the Congregational Church since her
earlychildhood.     She is survived by three sons, Harry, Merle and FredPage,
all of Grand Island; two daughters, Mrs. Lela Gephardt, GrandIsland, and Mrs
James Hippe, Bakersfield, Calif.; two brothers, AlvinNichols, Denver, Colo.,
and Norris Nichols, Topeka, Kan.; one sister,Mrs. Zada Sutley, Spokane, Wash.;
five grandchildren and onegreat-grandchild.     Besides her husband and her
parents, she waspreceded in death by two sons, Walter A. Page and Oscar A.
Page; andtwo brothers, Fred and William Nichols.Note: Lenora was the
daughterof Trowbridge Alvia Nichols & Hattie Dora Amanda Zorn [aka Sorn].

years, 10 months and 2 days. She was married toJoseph Newcomer May 1, 1873. To
this union were born 4 children: RettaFrazier, Edith Blizzard, Ezra Newcomer
and Rilla Wright. She alsoleaves to mourn her loss 2 brothers and 2 sisters
beside a host offriends. Mrs. Newcomer was a member of the Christian Church.
Funeralservices were conducted from the house by Pastor Clarence
Weston.Interment was in the Aurora cemetery.

two sisters besides a hostof friends. The sisters in Aurora are Mrs. T. H.
Smith and Mrs. DaveKline. Death came as the result of a surgical operation
performed afew days before. The funeral service was conducted by pastor
ClarenceWeston. Mrs. J. H. Marvel sang several appropriate
selections.Interment was made in the Aurora cemetery.

OBITUARY:  Posted on F-A-G.  Both date of publication and publication title not
given
  MARY FAYE MERRICK, age 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior August 29,
2013 in Van Buren, Arkansas. Formerly from Nashville, Arkansas, she was the
daughter of the late Josh and Lynn Nichols. Mary Faye was born on March 4,
1921 in DeQueen, Arkansas. She was married to the late George W. (Billy)
Merrick in December 1948. A talented musician, Mary Faye was church organist
for the Nashville, First Presbyterian church and then at the First Baptist
Church in Nashville. 
Mary Faye also played the organ for the Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville for
many years. She served as church secretary at First Baptist until her
retirement.
  Mary Faye was preceded in death by her brother, Joe B. Nichols. She is
survived by her children: Melissa Schaefer and her husband, Dennis, of
Russellville, Arkansas; George Merrick and his wife, Laura, of Van Buren,
Arkansas; and Melinda Merrick of Austin, Texas. Mary Faye had six grandsons:
Andrew Schaefer, Matthew Schaefer, Shawn Lofton, Joshua Merrick, Bradley
Merrick, and Zachary Merrick. She had two great grandsons, Arden and Ronin
Schaefer.
  Private graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August
31, 2013 at Nashville Cemetery with Bro. David Blasé officiating. Following
the graveside services a public memorial service at 11:00 A.M., at Latimer
Funeral Home in Nashville.
  Memorials can be made to the Music Ministry of the First Baptist Church,
Nashville, Arkansas.

NICHOLS, Alvia Trowbridge
OBITUARY OF T. A. NICHOLS
Trobridge Alvie Nichols was born Dec. 21, 1852, near Galena, Ill. Hemoved with
his parents to Bootheat, (sic) Wis., when a boy.
He was united in marriage to Hattie Sorn, Aug. 13, 1871, and to thisunion were
born six children: Mrs. A. D. Page, Grand Island, Nebr.;Mrs. Zada Sutley, St.
Marys; A. F. Nichols, LaJunta, Colo.; Fred ofPayette, Idaho; W. F. and Morris
of St. Marys.
In Nov. 1882, they moved to Aurora, Nebr., residing there until thefall of
1892. They then moved to Kansas. Sixteen years ago they cameto St. Marys.
Death claimed Mr. Nichols March 20 at the age of 76. His companionpreceded him
13 years ago.
He was converted and united with the Baptist Church at Woodland, Kan.,on Oct.
29, 1901. As there was not a church of his church in St.Marys, he attended
Sunday School and Worship at the Methodist Church.He was a good neighbor, a
kind father and a friend of all who knewhim.
He is survived by his six children; two sisters, Mrs. Kate Smith andMrs. Ada
Kline of Aurora, Nebr., and one brother, Asa Nichols ofOregon City, Ore.; also
16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted by the pastor from the MethodistChurch Friday
afternoon, March 22. Interment was in St. MarysCemetery. Source: St. Marys

Nicholson, Ivan R.
Cossayuna Lake -- Ivan R. Nicholson, 90, of Cossayuna, formerly ofEast Street,
Fort Edward, went into the arms of the Lord Monday, June20, 2005, at the home
of his son Gene Nicholson in Hudson Falls.
Born on Feb. 27, 1915, in Kingsbury, he was the son of the lateCharles and
Ruth [Colvin] Nicholson.
Ivan grew up working on a farm, and then worked at Griffin LumberCompany for
15 years. He owned and operated his own cabinet businesson Mill Street in Fort
Edward and was one of the first toprofessionally use Formica in cabinet
making. He then went on to ownand operate Nicholson's Feed Service on East
Street in Fort Edward for45 years.
He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Tennessee.
Ivan enjoyed fishing and gardening and loved politics and familygenealogy.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Constance[Crannell]
Nicholson, who died March 21, 2001. His daughter, BarbaraSabato; his sisters,
Florence Austin and Iona Palmer; and hisbrothers, Charles Jr., William,
Frederick, Clifford, and HoraceNicholson, also predeceased him.
Survivors include his children: Gene Nicholson and his wife, Linda, ofHudson
Falls, Phillip Nicholson and his wife, Pat, of Hartford, DavidNicholson and
his wife, Betty, of Fort Edward, Thomas Nicholson andhis wife, Darlene, of
Albany, his son-in-law, Charles Sabato, ofCrosswicks, N.J.; his
brother-in-law, Cuthbert Crannell and his wife,Lillian, of Glens Falls, his
sisters-in-law, Leona Nicholson of GlenLake and Madge Nicholson of Sunnyside
East; his sister, Betty Havensof South Glens Falls; 16 grandchildren, 22
great-grandchildren, andseveral nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday,June 21,
2005, at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward.www.kilmers.com

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 22,2005, at the
funeral home.
