Damon Miller Date of Death 3/6/2006
KEWANNA - C. Damon Miller, 83, of Kewanna, died at 6:54 p.m. onMonday, March 6
at Chase Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Logansport.He was born Sept. 12,
1922 in Akron to Charles and Naomi (Penri)Miller. On June 12, 1944 he married
Doris Troutman in Georgia. Shepreceded him in death on Sept. 8, 1992. On Nov.
14, 1993 he marriedDorese Calvin Kimble in Kewanna.
A graduate of Kewanna High School in 1941, Damon was in the U.S. Armyin WWII.
He fought at the Battle of the Bulge and received a PurpleHeart. Damon was a
truck driver and owner of Miller's LivestockHauling of Kewanna. He also farmed
for many years until he startedhauling stock until he had health problems in
2005. He was a member ofGrass Creek United Methodist Church.
Damon fought a very hard battle with his health for the last fewmonths, the
same way in which he lived his life - with courage anddignity. He was a
wonderful, loving and caring man. He will be sadlymissed by his wife, his
family and his friends. He touched the heartsand lives of everyone who knew
him. "Grandpa" will be especiallymissed by Brittany. She will always remember
him having time to playgames and of him letting her do his hair. No one will
ever touch herlife or heart as he has.
He is survived by his wife, Dorese; two daughters: Carol (Larry)Bibler of
Argos and Barbara (Gary) Hittle of Argos; two stepsons:Larry (Beverly) Kimble
of Kewanna and Jerry (Kenan) Kimble of BowlingGreen, Ky.; stepdaughter, JoAnn
Kimble Duca and friend Doran Collinsof Kewanna; six step grandchildren: RaeAnn
Snider, David (Crystal)Kimble, Terry (Sarah) Kimble, Michael (Jenny) Kimble,
all of Kewanna;Mark Kimble, Ball State University and Brittany Duca of
Kewanna; and11 step great-grandchildren: Chad Heinhold, Bethany Snider,
VictoriaSnider, Tasha (Dustin) Reames, Dusty Kimble, Shawna Kimble,
AdamKimble, Austin Kimble, Aaron Kimble, Patricia Kimble and CorineKimble, all
of Kewanna.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Larry Miller; and abrother,
Jerome Miller.
Visitation is Wednesday, March 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. and after 8 a.m. onThursday,
March 9 until the time of services at the Harrison-MetzgerFuneral Home,
Kewanna Chapel.
Funeral services are Thursday, March 9 at 1:30 p.m. at the funeralhome.
Burial will be at the McKinley-Memorial Gardens, Winamac, withmilitary

Charles G. Miller
Charles G. Miller, 86, Rochester, died at 2:20 p.m. Monday at hisnorth shore
Lake Manitou residece of a heart attack.
Mr. Miller was born Nov. 5, 1880, in Star City to Edward and Mary E.Enyeart
Miller. He homesteaded at Glendive, Mont., for 11 years andthen farmed at
Kewanna before moving to Lake Manitou in 1947.
His first marriage was to Margaret Rogers who died. He then marriedGlenn
Calvin on March 11, 1911. She died May 8, 1959. He marriedBlanche Gray Sink on
Jan. 20, 1961 in Florida. Mr. Miller was a memberof the Christian church of
Star City.
In addition to his wife he is survived by four sons, Carl [Miller],Munster;
Calvin G. [Miller], Washington, Pa.; Edward F. [Miller],Franklin, and Robert
E. [Miller], South Bend; four daughters, Mrs.George (Pauline) Overpeck,
Alexandria; Mrs. Cora Dieske, South Bend;Mrs. William (Edith) Beckwith, Tempe,
Ariz., and Mrs. Rex (Mary)Riggs, Rochester; one step-daughter, Mrs. Edwin
(Mary) Jones, Topeka,Kan.; a sister, Mrs. Frances Bradrick, Franklin;
fourteengrandchildren, including Cary and Mary Ann Riggs of Rochester,
andeleven great-grandchildren. Two brothers and one sister preceded indeath.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Zimmerman Brothersfuneral home.
The Rev. Graham Marsh will offficiate. Burial will be atthe I.O.O.F. cemetery
in Star City. Friends may call at the funeralhome after 2 p.m. Wednesday.

to the Fresno, CA area to work but it didn't work out.  Hemoved back to TN in
1950. He retired around 1985.  He was active inhis church (First Baptist in
Manchester, TN and was a Deacon there formany years.  He was also active in
his community being a member of theJaycees, Rotary and Lions clubs.  He was an
honest many, highlythought of in his profession and community; a man who loved
hischurch, country, and family.  You can't ask for much more than

Mary (MILLER) RIGGS QUICK, 83, former longtime Rochester resident,died at 9:30
a.m. Friday, June 4, at the Eastern Maine Medical Centerin Bangor, Maine. She
had been admitted that morning after suffering amassive stroke at 6 a.m. at
the assisted living center in Bangor,where she had resided for three years,
moving from Villa Park, Ill.
Memorial services were held Monday in Brewer, Maine. Cremains will beinterred
later at the I.O.O.F. cemetery here. Friends may makememorial contributions to
the First Christian Church of Rochester.
She was born Jan. 14, 1916, at Retah, Montana, the daughter ofCharles G. and
Leah Glenn CALVIN MILLER who then were homesteadingthere. She graduated from
Kewanna high school as class valedictorianand for two years attended the dress
design school of the Chicago ArtInstitute.
Her first marriage was at Kewanna on Oct. 9, 1937, to Rex RIGGS, whodied Nov.
10, 1964. Her second marriage was March 17, 1979, to RileyQUICK, who died in
February, 1999.
Once owner of the Miniature Dress Shop here, later for 12 years sheoperated
the family's Duo-Tint Bulb and Battery Company of DesPlaines, Ill., following
her husband's death.
An active member of the First Christian Church while in Rochester, shealso was
president of a Parent Teacher Association chapter and amember of Tri Kappa
sorority and Fulton County Players.
Surviving are a son, Cary RIGGS and wife Janet, Rochester Hills,Mich.; two
daughters, Owen DEWITT and husband James, Ellsworth, Maine,and Mary Ann PERRY
