OBITUARY: The Utica Observer (copy on file)
Tuesday, February 5, 1907
Miss Helen Macomber of Willowvale.
Miss Helen Macomber, who died Sunday at 126 Macomber homestead inWillowvale,
had for very many years lived a quiet and retired life inthat place. She was
the last of her family, the last surviving childof the late Horace Macomber.
Miss Macomber was a good neighbor andthough she had, especially of late years,
appeared to live almost inseclusion, she was as a matter of fact - enjoying
the companionship ofbright minds, for she was a tremendous reader, devouring
goodliterature with amazing consistency. Her home was filled withmagazines,
books and papers, and it was her custom to read far intothe night. Even up to
a very few days before her last illness, whichwas very brief, she had burned
the midnight oil. Miss Macomber, though physical enfeebled by her weight of
years, possessed a veryclear mind, which enabled her together with her taste
for eeading toround out her days in contentment.
Her funeral will be held from her late residence at 2 p.m.
to-morrow.
